Herringbone Floors

The weather in Wisconsin has been CRAZY!  One minute your wearing sandals and carrying an umbrella and the next minute your wearing snow pants.  Oh global warming, what are we going to do about you?  Have you been experiencing any crazy weather?  Well today is a great day to grab a cup of jo and a comfy chair and catch up on your favorite blogs.  Shall we talk about my love of herringbone floors?  My favorite is a slightly distressed wood version in a neutral room.

Bringing Back Brass

I'm bringing brassy back, them other boys don't know how to act.  Feel free to sing along.  I love a little Justin Timberlake in the morning.  Wait...that sounds bad.  I'm just going to get to the point.  Brass has definitely made a comeback and in a good way.  It looks like the cool older cousin of the brass from the '80's.  It seems to be a little more reserved and sophisticated.  Like it hangs out in moody bookstores and hip coffee shops.

Guest Bath Inspiration Board

No School Today!  That means we are busy building with blocks, watching cartoons, dancing to some rockin' music and sharing a quick post with you all.  Here is my inspiration board for our guest bath.  I love the brass touches paired with black and white.  The herringbone tile floor is something I've been wanting to do for a while now.  Happy Friday!

Homemade Valentines For Kids

The first year Bean was in school, I forgot (until the night before) to buy cards to pass out to his classmates.  My husband stopped at the only store still open and paid a small fortune for a box of Snoopy valentines.  I stayed up into the wee hours of the morning signing the cards and stuffing them into envelopes.  Not my finest moment.  This year Bean and I will be making the valentines together.  Here are a few we are considering.

Farmhouse Finds: Laundry

I love doing laundry in the Spring.  I mean I LOVE it.  I love sorting laundry as a sweet-scented breeze comes in through the screen door. The sun is shining and the birds are chirping.  I love the way the linens feel after drying on the line.  The only thing that would make it better is if  the birds would hand me clothespins like they help Cinderella or Snow White.  That's probably not going to happen, but I would settle for some of these pretty little things for the laundry room.

Slammin' Jammies

Today started just like the last two mornings.  I awaken to the pitter-patter of little feet and look at the clock.  Morning already?  It is still pitch black outside and my bed is warm and inviting.  I give my husband a pathetic look and he agrees to let me "sleep" for ten more minutes.  Sleep.  I have really grown to appreciate it since becoming a parent.  With sleep on my mind, I picked out a few new pj's I wouldn't mind climbing into right about now.  Yawn.  I think I'll go make some coffee.

Not only is this bathroom beautiful, but it is styled to perfection.  Way to go Carla!

To Recline or Not To Recline

I made the mistake of mocking my hubby last night for his choice in television.  Volcano documentary, anyone?  He replied, "Yeah, The Bachelor is far more educational."  Hey, I think we all could have learned a lot from that 50 Shades of Grey chick and I hope single girls everywhere learned that it is a bad idea to wear a wedding dress on a first date.  We have very different styles.  What more can I say?  The recliner is a common debate in our house.  My husband thinks a big old gaudy recliner is a must in every home.  I'm not digging it.  So I have been busy looking for a compromise.  Does a stylish chair that happens to recline actually exist?  You be the judge.

Shared Bedrooms By Boys and Girls

Good Morning!  So let's talk siblings.  I grew up with three sisters and a brother so I experienced the joy of sharing a room.  My little sis and I even shared a double bed until I was eleven.  I really didn't mind except for when  she would get one of her horrible nosebleeds and we would wake up and look like we were involved in some sort of hideous crime.  I vowed never to make my children share a room.  Now that I have two little boys, I can appreciate the bonding and life lessons created by sharing a room.  Here are a few of my favorite bedrooms shared by boys and girls.

Going Green

Two days before the new color of year was announced, Bean asked me if my favorite color was still red.  I told him my new favorite color was emerald green and then I searched the house for an example to show him.  He said it was pretty, but not as pretty as John Deere green.  Needless to say, I was uber-excited to find out that emerald green is the color of the year for 2013.  Here are a few pieces I may have to include in my wardrobe this year.  Fingers crossed that next year will be John Deere green.  Just kidding!

Cozy in the Country

Thank goodness the weekend is almost here! I need to do some major cleaning around here and hit the sales at a few stores.  Maybe I can find some time to have a little fun too!  Here are a few things I am crushin' on.

I made these before the holidays and they were pure gooey bliss.
I didn't know I needed this, but I have to have it.
This is a Thanksgiving dinner that won't pack on the pounds.
